Transfer Tunbridge Wells-LHR Heathrow
Tunbridge Wells is situated 61 miles south east of Heathrow airport. This journey normally takes about an hour and ten minutes in normal traffic conditions. It has a population of 45000 according to the 2001 census. It is just over an hour away from the centre of London, to the north west, and it is surrounded by the Kent countryside. The Town is known for its History and Style and is a favourite place for short breaks and long weekends unwinding from City life. The town is known for the famous Chalybeate Spring where the water was discovered by a young nobleman discovering it whilst travelling through the area in the 17th Century. News of the spa became known far and wide and people of Royalty and Gentry started to visit the town to drink it for its famous health giving properties.
Kent has more stately homes than any other part of the UK, so there are plenty to choose from to go and visit that are steeped in British History with famous figures such as Sir Winston Churchill, Anne Boleyn and poet Sir Philip Sidney. Known as the Garden of England there are many places to walk and see the many beautiful parks and gardens in the area. In the town there is a colonnaded walkway called The Pantiles, at the northern end is the spring where visitors sample the iron rich water after visiting the variety of boutiques and antique shops. You can sit and people watch in one of the many open air cafes that are around. The surrounding area called the Weald, is made up of many picturesque and historically preserved villages, each having its own interesting story to tell. The museum of the town has social,local and natural history, aswell as costume and textile collections. A few minutes away from the town centre signposts will take you to High Rocks for a good day out. Chosen as a woodland resort by Royalty of the past it is now a National Monument and renouned place for Rock Climbing. There is a pub,restaurant and gardens, aswell as a Stream Train that will take you from Tunbridge Wells to Groombridge.
